immediately after the Army (Dec. 82) some friends and i formed a [dance] club band. i do not have a tape of the band or a copy of our pub photo. our intention was to play the clubs, make some bucks -- which we did -- for a year or so then to write some originals. we made it for about a year, playing a lot. then problems arose and we were forced to disband. since i have no tape, this is a sampling of some the covers we played that i sang. i also sang the song "Maniac" but we dropped that as well as "Talk To You Later" and "All This Love" fairly soon after forming, opting for newer songs, such as "One Thing Leads To Another", "Saved By Zero", etc. we also did Bowie's "Lets Dance" and "China Girl." "Wrapped Around Your Finger" was probably the most popular song we played, i mean when we played it. often i'd have to sing it twice it was so heavily requested and we did it very well. it was and it wasn't fun. although i sang the song well, between something like that number and "It's a Mistake"... i had to be careful with my voice, practice a lot, keep it warm, in order to belt those two out night after night. the band leader (keyboard) tended to draw up the set list, it seemed to me, purposely trying to burn me out. he sang the other half of our songs. by the end of '83 i had taken off to Miami and became a live sound man for a band i met in Key West. that lasted about 6 months, to late summer. bad, bad, days.
